Description
If there is such a thing as a pilgrimage site for photographers in Toledo Spain, the Mirador del Valle, across the steep river valley, is it. People come by in car and people come by in the red hop on-hop off tourist bus. Gigantic tour buses with selfie-stick wielding tourists come by the score. A few visitors, like me, walk there, or maybe take the local bus. Not knowing exactly where the mirador was, I was ecstatic at my first view of Toledo so I stopped for some photos. Then I kept walking and the panorama slowly unfolded for me with every small bend in the road. It was like a meal to be savored. In this view, the Toledo cathedral is the tall -spired building. The twin-towered building just to its left is the Iglesia de los Jesuitos. Toledo is the capital of the province of Toledo and the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive cultural and monumental heritage and historical co-existence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures.
